We actually need a few recipes that are fast and at the same time different when we entertain, and Saganaki with Shrimp and Feta is exactly that!

Use good wine and Greek feta if you like perfection!

Little things make the difference and if you want to get the best results don’t substitute ingredients!

People very often wonder why the taste of food in Greece is way better than other places!

This is a major factor if you want to have authentic Greek taste, use authentic products! And don’t forget the olive oil, make sure it’s Greek!

  • Ingredients
  • 2 pounds shrimp (not cooked shell removed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup white wine (good wine )
  • 1 cup prepared tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup Greek feta cheese in small pieces
  • Pepper a touch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp dry oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

In a heavy pan add the olive oil and butter, sauté onion and garlic until transparent.

Add shrimp and cook until it changes color about 3 minutes.

Add the wine and cook 1-2 minutes

Incorporate tomato sauce and water, stir well and add salt, pepper, dry Oregano, pepper flakes, and sugar.

Add to the shrimp and cook 2 more minutes

Add Feta cheese and place in a hot oven on broil for a few minutes to

give the cheese a chance to warm up and all the flavors to come together.

Serve with good bread and enjoy something so easy and yet so delicious.

When cooking with Feta cheese keep in mind to use less salt.
